Had a major crush on a guy who was senior when I was a freshman. We hung out (wink wink) off and on through the next ten years but when I was interested in more, he wasn't. Later, when he was, I wasn't. We never found our forever, but you'll find him in a lot of what I write. Senior year, my class went to a poetry festival and we heard Lucille Clifton read a poem about menopause. A boy in my class complained that girls never write about anything good, like masturbating. So I did. Then read it out loud in class and got sent to the vice-principal's office. Lesson learned:  Writing about the naughties can be thrilling.
